Erin Patricia Colleen – Tues. Sept. 6, 2015

Erin is listening to Patricia and Colleen’s discussion of new books to read. Colleen heads home to Boulder tomorrow. She arrived last Wed. and stayed with Erin while Patricia, Clark, and I went to the Hyatt in Santa Clara for a Regional Bridge Tournament.

I have gone to the Hyatt for the past 12 years for this tournament, but I think this year is the last year they will host the bridge players. The 49ers Levi stadium is about a block and a half away, and this past Sat. night Coldplay was giving a concert and it raised havoc for the tournament. Local bridge players arriving by car were told to park in a lot a couple of miles away, and then a bus shuttled them to the hotel. The last shuttle to get back to their cars was to run at 10 pm because the hotel said that once the concert let out, the area around the hotel would be like a parking lot. So, they moved the start time of the evening bridge game from 7pm to 6 pm, and cancelled the 6:15 pm speaker.

The hotel advised not to go out for dinner, but there was going to be a 25 minute wait for the hotel restaurant, so we just ate food that we had brought in our rooms, in order to get to the 6 pm start time for the evening game. After the bridge game, we were going to get something to eat in the bar-lobby area, but it was jam packed and the noise was stifling.

We ran into families attending the concert, and they said that it was wonderful.

I guess what is good for the hotel business is bad for your bridge tournament. You need to find a place which is eager for your business, I suppose.
What were some of the books which Colleen suggested?

Patricia suggested books by J.A.Jance who writes about a police detective set in Seattle.

Colleen liked books by Steven White who was a psychiatrist in Boulder. He writes about a character who is a psychiatrist.
