Tommy Skiing with Steve – Mon. Jan. 25, 2016

Hope you can see this video of Tommy skiing with Steve yesterday. Barbara

Paco, Tommy, Steve Skiing in Glen Arbor, MI – Sun. Jan. 24, 2016

The boys had great fun skiing today. I tried to post a video of Tommy skiing very smoothly as he held on to Steve, but I don’t seem to be able to post videos. Gorgeous setting, just a half hour from their house in Traverse City, MI.

Wheeler put to Work – Sat. Jan. 23, 2016

An interior recessed light burned out, and first Clark tried to change it using the step ladder. But, his arthritic hands couldn’t get the burned out bulb to twist. Then I tried, but couldn’t get the bulb to turn because I couldn’t push the bulb up enough.

Wheeler is going to Sac City College and is staying with us for a while, so I asked him if he could try. He didn’t use the ladder, but just reached up and twisted the bulb effortlessly.

Erin and Shannon headed for an Adventure – Sat. Jan. 23, 2016

Erin and Shannon are shown this morning before they headed to Rocklin for a movie.
Erin came home from the adventure bubbling over with enthusiasm. Erin says that other than visits from the boys, this was the most exciting thing that she had done in the past couple of years. Life in Sacramento is not as exciting as life in Davis.

Erin said the waitress took their orders for drinks. Then they pushed a red button to summon the waitress to order individual pizzas. She said all of the ordering did not interfere with watching the movie. Erin laughed repeatedly as she related the events of the adventure. They thought that the movie, Sisters, was so-so. Erin is still giggling as she is telling me about the experience.

Erin and Shannon having Cocktails at the Movies – Sat. Jan. 23, 2016

Shannon, who lives in Folsom, brought her daughter in to Sac State this morning for a daylong rehearsal for the Honor Choir. So, Shan picked up Erin to go to a movie. Now that there is construction going on downtown for the Arena and the nearby Century Theaters are being torn down this week, Shan couldn’t find a movie to go to. So, she decided they would go up to Rocklin, 25 mi away, to go to a theater that Shan had been wanting to try: the Studio Movie Grill where waiters serve you meals and drinks at your seat. They were planning to see “Sisters”.

They also went out for dinner Thursday night during another rehearsal. They tried to eat at Bandera, but it was jammed, so instead they had a good dinner up the street at Zinfandel Grill. Erin bought home leftover risotto which I could only eat half of, the portion was so generous.

Visit from Barbara B. – Wed. Jan. 20, 2016

About noon (when I was at bridge) Clark heard a knock on the door. It was Barbara B, the wonderful hospice volunteer who came to stay with Erin every week for 4+ hours when Erin was on hospice from Jan. – Sept. 2012. Barbara lives just down the street, and had been wondering if Erin still lived in Davis.

Clark talked to Barb for a while, then Erin came out and joined them and talked animatedly for over a half hour. I guess Erin wore herself out, because she and Clark were supposed to go to lunch, then to Trader Joe’s and to CVS. After lunch at Panera, Erin wanted to skip Trader Joe’s (a favorite place for her to shop) and they just picked up a few things at CVS and came home.

This was the first time that Erin had been out of the house in the 3 weeks since they boys left. Erin had been feeling very low and rarely left her room. She had not gone out with Colleen when Colleen was here for a week to stay with Erin earlier in the month. But, for the last 3 days Erin has been quite perky.
