Erin Watching the Pope – Fri. Sept. 25, 2015

Erin has been sleeping most of the past week, but today she was up early, scrambled her own egg before I even realized she was up, and made her own coffee. Then she made herself a cheese quesadilla and started watching TV with us in the living room. She was quite fascinated by the pope’s visit to the Queen of Angels school and hearing the spontaneous singing and the pope’s comments and ease with the students.

There are tears in my eyes as I watch him greet special needs children at Madison Square Garden.

Cannot imagine how special it must have been for you to watch all about the visit of Pope Francisco. Mike and I have been glued to the tv for the last two days! We attended two Masses and were thrilled to hear our own hometown dialect on national television.
What a thrill to see and listen to this extraordinary man!
We thought a lot about all three of you.

I just read your comment to Erin and she said, “Oh, I love Judy and miss her so much.” (Judy is Paco and Tommy’s other grandmother.) Erin said that she loved seeing the pope with all of the other religious leaders at the 9/11 Memorial yesterday.

Yes, Pope Francis is a breath of fresh air. His concern for those who are often ignored is inspiring. Now to follow his example. That’s the hard part.
