Math Problem from Paco – Sun. June 14, 2015

Paco presented me with a Math problem this morning which he heard on YouTube. He is going to present it now to all of you:

0 0 0=6 You can use any mathematical symbols but you can’t add any numbers, therefore you can’t square or cube any numbers. Tune in on Monday for the answer. Hint: Factorial

Quite a math problem, Paco. Hmm, factorial is not doing anything for me but I will give it some thought.

I didn’t even try… I just assumed it was a typo (and, uh, remind me: what’s a factorial again?). So I showed it to Dean. He wrestled with it for a while, furiously scribbling on a piece of paper, then promptly gave up and announced that he was going out for a walk!

When he returned 30 minutes later he sat down at the table and wrote this out for me:

Nice going, Paco – you almost stumped him! (and he graduated from 5th grade WAY before you did)

Hope you’re having a great visit!

So 3! (i.e. 1x2x3) would work? Not sure what the zeros are meant to represent.

    Yes, 3!, defined as 3x2x1, is 6. 0! is defined as 1.
