Betsy’s Flash Mob – Sun. Feb. 15, 2015

Fri. Feb. 20, 2015:  Just discovered this on my phone. Press on the white arrow to see the action.

Erin and John Leaving Reception – Sun. Feb. 15, 2015

As we left the reception it was snowing sufficiently hard that it was difficult to push the wheelchair over grass to get to the car. So, cousin John Z pushed Erin to the corner a half a block away.

John is Patricia’s 4th child, 4 years older than Tom. John is the only Zavadil who still lives in Albuquerque where Patricia and husband Joe raised their 6 children.

Erin is wearing a red angora hat knitted by Dean when Erin was on chemo and radiation 5 years ago.

Waiting to take us back to our hotel was Dave Smith, Joan’s oldest. He made a trip just for us, then went back to the reception to pick up his sibs, Janet, Ken, and Alan after they all helped Mary clean up.

We are all in phase 5 of the trip: recovering, looking at pictures, and looking out the window to make sure there is no snow or ice on the street!

4 Smith Cousins – Sun. Feb. 13, 2015

Shown are 4 of my sister Joan Smith’s children. Her daughter Ginny (a flight attendant) and husband Ron also planned to come, but were flying standby Sat. and waited all day unsuccessfully for a flight.

Joan and Ralph had also planned to come, but Ralph came down with pneumonia a couple of weeks ago, and his doctor advised him not to fly. Joan and Ralph would also have been flying standby, and that would have been exhausting and disappointing for them.

Zavadils Reading a Poem – Sun. Feb. 15, 2015

When the Zavadils have a family celebration, they frequently have written a poem. Dean is a large contributor to writing the poem, so this time Mary wrote the whole poem. It was 5 pages long with about 20 lines per page. Tom Z’s 2 sisters and 3 brothers, their spouses, and their children, and Patricia each read a few sets of lines.

Elena and Greer Singing – Sun. Feb. 15, 2015

Elena           Greer           Greg            Paul      Gabe.   Mary is standing between Paul and Gabe.

After the Flash Mob, the entertainment continued with Greg and Mary’s daughter Elena singing 2 songs. First Elena sang a duet with her friend Greer. They sang “I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You”, an Elvis Presley song. They had very pretty voices.

Then Elena, who is almost 20, sang a solo, “La Vie en Rose”. She was accompanied be her Dad Greg, younger brother Paul. and oldest brother Gabe playing their guitars. … A very talented family!

Erin talking to Gabe Gutierrez – Sat. Feb. 14, 2015

Wed. Feb. 18, 2015: Erin enjoyed talking to Gabe about travel. He is Mary and Greg’s oldest. He graduated from the Univ of Puget Sound a year and a half ago and now lives in Seattle. He was one of the guitar players accompanying his sister at the reception and was the organizer of the after entertainment dancing on Sunday.

That is Greg, facing the camera between them, and Mary on the far right.

Erin and Dean at Maggiano’s – Sat. Feb. 14, 2015

Wed. Feb. 18th: Just got this photo from my sister Joan, who had received it from her daughter Janet. Thought it was so good of both Erin and Dean, her new cousin-in-law as of Jan. 30th. Valentine’s Day was actually Dean’s birthday, and Monday, the 16th, was Tom’s birthday.
