Visit to the Optometrist – Wed. Nov. 12, 2014

Erin has been complaining recently about more difficulty seeing both close and far. So, within 3 days I was able to get her in to see Dr. Fong, the optometrist whom she saw 2 years ago and whom I have seen since 1992. He apologized several times for running late. His first appointment of the afternoon had consumed lots of extra time.

Erin doesn’t need any correction to her prism, but she has become more farsighted and now needs a correction at a distance, plus additional power for reading. So, she needs bifocal or progressive lenses. The clerk at optical sales was able to look up the frames that Erin was wearing and could prescribe new lenses without sending the frames in with the order for the new lenses which should be in in about 7-10 days.

Erin and I got our flu shots. I had thought that we might not be able to because Kaiser nurses were on strike yesterday and today, but the nurses that give the shots are called in for just the flu clinic and are not eligible for the benefits that the full time nurses are striking for.

Erin had originally suggested going to Trader Joe’s afterwards, but she was too tired, and we came home after picking up a prescription for her at Fair Oaks pharmacy. I was gone from the car for 2 minutes, and both Clark and Erin thought that I had not been able to pick it up, but there was no line at all.

Good to get the flu shots. Vern and I did that a few weeks ago.
I hope the change in glasses will help Erin.
Sometimes we just get lucky when we go in and get waited on right away.
