Erin had an appt with her oncologist today here in Sacramento. After talking to her for a while, he said, “You look amazingly stable.” He said that she was talking pretty well today, much better than at times a few months ago.
She said that she has pain ofabout a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. She had a bad headache later this afternoon, but most of the pain is in her legs.
Dr. Adams said that she does not show the characteristics of a long term survivor, who has no recurrence. Rather, Erin’s immune system seems to be helping to hold her cancer stable. He said that there are neurological diseases like MS or a stoke giving brain damage similar to Erin’s. But, you don’t usually see this in cancer patients.
Maybe eventually he will order an MRI out of curiosity, but the treatment wouldn’t be any different.
